The sun is shining, high and bright
My shadow sticks close, never out of sight
Even when I stop to rest
The shadow stays, it won’t protest
Sometimes it seems to tower tall
Stretching out, as if to call
But still, I need the light to see
What’s out there waiting just for me
Even at night, the sun still glows
In the dreams where everyone goes
Though I’m still, my mind’s in motion

That shadow’s not a part of me

We find the shade, not out of fright
The shadow’s far, but I’m alright
I don’t need regrets to stay
I’ve lived my life in my own way
But jealousy will sometimes creep
Invading spaces while I sleep
They say we’re special, but it’s not true
Sometimes I let it pass right through
Maybe I’m dreaming, lost in the air
Floating between what’s real and where
I try to run, but I lose my breath
Running low on dreams and strength
On sunny days, the cars all shine
I chase the shade, but it’s not mine
The shadow’s quiet, it’s always there
Following me without a care
Coffee keeps me in the zone
But too much and I’m overthrown
We press the buttons, lost in screens
Searching for what all this means
