You’d think that modern romance
Would have tidied things a bit
But despite interfering now and then
It hasn’t at all
And if anything
It’s made things worse
Ugly distractions keeping us from what matters most
But I’m hoping that a little piece of the truth
Can at least promise some hope
For the heart
And for those who know its contents
Better than science
They work about it everyday
They’ve managed to tune in to its frequencies
Avoidance is futile
It’s good for the heart
You’d think that instant machines and instant communications
Would have reduced the problems out there
But they’re as bad as ever
Maybe worse
I think that maybe a good old-fashioned bit of honesty
Could set us back on the right track
It’s obvious yet it could work
For the heart
And for those who know its contents
Better than science
