There’s a place in my mind, actually, a sanctuary
I didn’t like the way it swings so I froze it finally
I never cared what comes next in the morning
But when she comes I have to listen
To those ringing voices inside my head
To these cold voices they say it louder and louder
“Kill the snake” then I smash a piece of old dreams
And the snake is nowhere to be seen
Then I ask, “Is it me, or the snake that has the poison and wants to use it?”
I never suspect what you say in the night
But when she comes it won’t be so easy
And I might have another chance to beat the voices in my head
But they are stronger than ever, “Kill the Snake!”
Then I smash the frozen river and the snake is nowhere to be seen
Is it love? Or is it fear?
Is it hatred? Is it despair?
Now I’m on my knees just to confess how I’m honored to see you
I listen to those ringing voices inside my head
To these cold voices they say it louder and louder
“Kill the snake” then I smash a piece of all dreams
And I’ll never have another chance to beat the voices in my head
And they are stronger than ever “Kill the snake!”
Then I smash the remains of the truth
And the snake is nowhere to be seen
